Why do I have to wait for Intel's new?
Intel has a new processor options, all of which offer improved performance while using less power. This means that the latest laptops and tablets that use the Intel Core 5th generation i and the new Intel Core M will have a battery life better and run cooler.
Because of the latter, many new laptops and hybrids have smaller, quieter fans - some may not even have a fan at all. They are also lighter, thinner and faster, all of which makes waiting a good idea.
If you are not sure if the laptop you see has a new processor, check spec sheet for what the 'generation' of Intel processors are included. A "4th generation Core i" processors means older, but still very nice, the processor. The new one is labeled "5-generation Core i processors" in the spec sheet. Older machines are still worth considering if you find a good deal, though.
What kind of laptop should I buy?
A lot will depend on how much you have to spend, but here is a brief summary of options to help you decide.
Hybrid Tablet Laptop - {£ 300 to £ 1000 or more}
If you are ever tempted by the iPad, but still need a Windows laptops, then the hybrid is a good choice. There are a number of choices in size and price. The main things to consider is how much you want to spend and how you will use it. Need more of a tablet laptop? Go bigger and more expensive. The opposite is true if you really want a tablet that you can use as a tablet.
Laptop Convertible - {£ 500 up to £ 1,000 or more}
This is a different twist on the implementation of the hybrid. Pure hybrid tablet has separate segments that are connected to the keyboard, while the convertible is a normal laptop with a clever hinge that rotates. They are a good choice if you mainly need a laptop but want a little flexibility.
Thin and Light Laptop - {£ 700 up to £ 1,000 or more}
Sometimes referred to as 'Ultrabooks', a thin and light laptop will have a 11-inch screen or a 13 inch and ... well, thin and lightweight. MacBook Air is thin and light laptop, and there are plenty of alternatives Windows.
Desktop Replacement - {£ 250 up to £ 1,000 or more}
It explains every laptop with 15-inch or 17-inch screen and they vary greatly in price. They are workhorses well with large, easy to use screen. Shopping nothing more than £ 600 and you get some advanced features and good quality large screen for movies.
Laptop Multimedia - {£ 1,000 to £ 2,000 or more}
It is for users who want a more serious regular video and photo editing RAW files. This laptop is about the all-out performance and have a high-quality display. If you are not sure you need to spend this much, you may not.
Google Chromebooks - {£ 150 to £ 350}
If you are a Google user greater then the cheap laptops are worth considering. They use the Chrome OS operating system and rely heavily on web applications. They are simple and inexpensive and less bloatware, such as anti-virus, which often plagues cheap Windows laptops.
