Gigabyte GTX 960 - G1 Gaming graphics card Review

Recently introduced Gigabyte GTX 960 graphics card G1 Gaming (GV-N960G1 GAMING-2GD) with trademark Windforce triple-fan cooler. This is the first major Nvidia graphics cards based on the Maxwell architecture. The GTX 960 graphics card is new and very power efficient silicon based on a brand new code-named GM206. You can think about the GTX 960 instead of the GTX 660 and GTX 760 cards out.  Nvidia Geforce GTX 960 launched described as "sweet spot" graphics card. Traditionally Nvidia "sweet spot" is a 60-series models such as the GTX 460, 560, 660, 760 and so on. They tend to offer a price / performance ratio is good and the current generation can run most of the titles in 1080p with high detail settings.

GTX 960 G1 Gaming is a factory overclocked card with a bump up the frequency of the GPU, but thanks to the cold Windforce it should be cooler and quieter than the reference card. GTX 960 G1 Gaming working at 1241MHz base clock, while the base of reference 1126MHz GPU clock. Nvidia GPU Boost 2.0 take an average GPU clock 1178MHz for the GPU and 1304MHz for the card reference G1 Gaming. Note that the actual hours Increases will vary from game-to-game depending on the condition of the system, and one of the most interesting things is that the G1 Gaming Gigabyte BIOS is configured to provide high Improve hours.  Gigabyte also showcased two other SKUs into WF2OC (1216 MHz base / 1279 MHz boost) and IXOC (1165 MHz base / 1228 MHz boost). Gaming G1 is equipped with a great performance and cooling solutions for the fans, while WF2OC better for value-minded consumers.
Special IXOC card based PCB short, and this could be a selling point for HTPC builders. WF2OC that showed in the picture above, and below you can see IXOC card.

Reference GTX 960 has a TDP of 120W, while the G1 Gaming rose to 160W, but the 6-phase design ensures higher, increasing the solid hour, while maintaining the low temperature. Two 6-pin power connectors provide additional power in case the user wants to overclock the GPU further. Reference GTX 960 card uses only one 6-pin power connectors. Gigabyte does not change the memory clock. G1 Gaming GTX 960 2GB GDDR5 memory clocked features 1752MHz at (7010MHz effectively), providing up 112.16GB / sec peak memory bandwidth.
The GM206 GPU used in the GeForce GTX 960 has all the key architectural innovations first introduced in the GeForce GTX 980. SM Maxwell GPU featuring new designs that have been adapted to improve efficiency.
The Maxwell SMM partitioned into four 32-CUDA different block processing core (total of 128 CUDA cores per SM), each with its own dedicated resources for scheduling and buffering instructions. By giving each block processing its own resources specifically for instruction scheduling and dispatch, Nvidia CUDA GPU core is able to maintain a fully utilized more often, increasing the efficiency of the workload and reduce the amount of power that normally go to waste.

Nvidia has also made a number of changes to the cache hierarchy in Maxwell. Each unit SMM GM206 which has a dedicated 96KB shared memory itself, while the caching function L1 / textures are combined into a pool of memory 24KB per post processing block (48KB per SMM). The previous generation Kepler GPU has 64KB of shared memory function smaller also shared as L1 cache. each core CUDA GM206 is able to provide approximately 1.4x more performance per core than the Kepler GK106 core CUDA (direct predecessor of GM206), and 2x the performance per watt.
New features introduced by Maxwell also includes real-time lighting voxel, MFAA (multi-sample anti-aliasing frames), Dynamic Super Resolution (DSR), Effect Turf, VR directly, PhysX Flex, G-Sync and Shadowplay.

Memory subsystem GM206 also been revamped. The third generation delta compression engine Nvidia offers a new fashion colors for color compression, allowing the GPU to use the available memory bandwidth more effectively. When combined with the caching improvements in Maxwell BC, GM206 uses about 25% less bytes per frame compared with Kepler GPU. This means that from the perspective of the GPU core, memory system Kepler-style running at 9.3Gbps will provide effective bandwidth similar to the bandwidth of the memory system to provide enhanced Maxwell.
The memory subsystem of the GeForce GTX 960 is composed of two 64-bit memory controllers (128-bit) with 2GB of GDDR5 memory. 128-bit memory interface 7Gbps able to effectively provide a bit more bandwidth than the direct predecessor (148.8GB / sec effective in the GTX 960 vs 144.2GB / sec in the GTX 660)
